A Memorial Day weekend event will serve as the official kickoff and fundraiser for a new program that aims to help local residents living in shelters move into their own homes.
The bowling event, “Knocking Down Homelessness, One Pin At A Time,” will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Century Lanes in Nixa.
The event will serve as a fundraiser for Community Credit Counseling Service of the Ozarks’ “Say Yes To The Address” program. The program combines financial literacy with one-on-one counseling, and helps clients create their own action plans. Those who complete the program will receive a utilities deposit and rental application fee.
“This event and this program will help us achieve our goal of reducing homelessness in the community,” said Holly Wilson, Community Credit Counseling Service executive director. “There is nothing more personal than having your own space.
The event will feature a bowling ball raffle, a 50/50 drawing, and a $10 entry strike pot. Admission is $50 at the door.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield will host the 3rd Annual Great Elixir Mixer, a craft cocktail competition where the best local bars and restaurants compete to win awards for their finest mixed drink. Attendees sample delicious cocktails, enjoy appetizers, and dance the night away with live music by 90s cover band The Mixtapes.
The Great Elixir Mixer benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, providing a safe, positive place for youth after school. The Club fosters supportive relationships, engages youth in meaningful opportunities, and celebrates their unique skills and accomplishments.

Watershed will celebrate 40 years of clean water community at the annual Summer Gala June 21 at Wire Road Brewery with live music, craft beer, a silent auction, a whiskey pull, a catered meal, and more.
Gala tickets are $75 each and will support expanding education and outreach efforts and growing Watershed Conservation Corps and Watershed Natives programs.
