Springfield Planning and Zoning

The Planning and Zoning Commission considered the latest revised rezoning plan for a contentious tract of properties at the intersection of Sunshine and National in Springfield. The developer has been attempting to rezone the properties since 2022. The plan will receive a hearing before Springfield City Council next month.

Topics included alcohol at public events, the nuisance code and the ongoing convention center project.

The vote Thursday night was 5 to 1. The issue now goes to Springfield City Council for a public hearing.

The rezoning request had been scheduled for the meeting on Thursday, August 24.

The decision can be overruled by the Springfield Public Schools Board of Education, but at least two-thirds of members must vote yes.
