As Springfield faces recovery from two major storms so far this year, officials put out a call for volunteers and announced a citywide cleanup day later this month.

The service is provided by the Missouri Baptist Disaster Relief.

Utility crews working overnight were able to bring power back on for several thousand customers in Springfield and around the Ozarks, while some remained without electricity.

The nearly four-and-a-half hour-long meeting focused on billing and customer service at Liberty Utilities and was one of several recent town halls held in southwest Missouri.

The nonprofit organization is based in Springfield.
