Our weekly program, Making Democracy Work, is a collaboration between KSMU Radio and the League of Women Voters of Southwest Missouri. It's hosted and produced by volunteers from the LWV, and it airs each Monday morning at 9:45 on KSMU.

In this episode of our local program Making Democracy Work, host Debbie Good speaks with Dr. Nicole Lemmon, director of virtual learning and strategic planning with Launch Virtual Learning at Springfield Public Schools.

Lemmon talks about the online learning programs and compares them to others across the country. She says Launch partners with 400 school districts throughout the state of Missouri.

Lemmon says they take pride in the teachers they have and that they are the only online format that pays into teacher retirement. Lemmon says they seek teachers with special talents and only hire teachers who live and are certified in Missouri.
