STEP Conference Leads Latino Students to Missouri State

Juan Meraz

Getting into college and finding your niche can be difficult, but Missouri State University is dedicated to helping students follow their passion and find their place. Juan Meraz, assistant vice president for multicultural services, discusses the STEP Conference (Student Transition Education Program) to be held Sept. 18-19 on the Missouri State Campus.

The conference is geared at Latino high school and middle school students - the presentations on Sept. 18 are for middle school students, while the presentations on Sept. 19 are focused on high school students - who are considering higher education.

Nicki received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Business Administration from Missouri State in marketing, in 2002 and 2004 respectively. After gaining experience in writing, marketing, special event planning, fundraising and public relations, she returned to the university to work in the office of strategic communication. There she tells the university’s story by sharing the stories of individuals at Missouri State.
