Workers at two local Starbucks stores have voted to join the nationwide Starbucks Workers United union in recent years. They held a practice picket last week ahead of a nationwide union vote approving a future strike.

Dr. Stephen McIntyre is a history professor at Missouri State University.

Starbucks at 1008 E Battlefield is one of 10 locations across the country that petitioned to join the union.

Workers at a Springfield Starbucks Coffee shop announced they were organizing back in June.
