Devising Original Theatre Springfield invites area theater creatives to participate in the fast-paced Playwright’s Playground Festival, where teams have just 24 hours to create, rehearse and perform original works.

Reporter Jimmy Rea speaks with Executive Director Dr. Gretchen Teague and founding member Kristin Farr about the festival and the organization’s path to this year’s event.

Devising Original Theatre Springfield has teamed up with local game master and creative director Kaleb Norman for a monthly series at Mother’s Brewing Company that combines role-playing games with improvised performance.

The event has been in the works since KSMU last spoke with DOTS in January.

The new group is focused on producing new work by area artists.
