The Missouri Farm Bureau and MU Extension are giving farmers steps they can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • The first tip is to limit the number of people using farm equipment like trucks and tractors.
  • Assign one person per piece of equipment. If sharing is necessary, sanitize everything touched after it’s used.
  • Also, workers should be able to wash their hands often because hand sanitizer isn’t very effective on dirty hands.
  • Be sure to sanitize anything delivered to the farm before handling it.
  • Order new parts and pay over the phone, because any unnecessary contact creates risk.
  • And finally, talk to others to keep the stress down. Calling your neighbors can help with loneliness.
