Tornado warnings were issued for parts of southwest Missouri overnight, and there are reports of damage.
Trees were blown over—some onto houses—in Ozark, and a barn was blown down there. A mobile home was moved off its foundation in Willow Springs, and a roof blew off a barn in Douglas County.
Damage to trees, power lines and homes was reported in Rogersville. Power poles were snapped and trees were damaged in Greene County. There are also reports of trees falling onto homes, including one in downtown Springfield. There were reports of a building and a garage that sustained damage. A large tree was uprooted in Monett.
Trees were downed near Highlandville Elementary School.
Hail to the size of 1.25 inches was reported in Ridgedale in Taney County.
Power was still out in parts of Springfield Monday morning, and City Utilities was working to restore it.
At the peak there were approximately 9,500 outages in the City Utilities service territory, according to CU officials. Besides issues with neighborhood areas, three high-voltage transmission lines were damaged, including one near the Campbell and Plainview area. CU and Liberty were working to repair the lines in that area. The damage near Campbell and Plainview was expected to be the most difficult to repair.
As of 8:30 a.m., approximately 2,300 CU electric customers remained without service.
