Springfield Public School Superintendent's Contract Extended

SPS

The Springfield Public Schools Board of Education has extended superintendent, Dr. John Jungmann’s, contract through the 2021-2022 school year.  The decision was made after board members completed the annual performance review of the superintendent.  It’s the fifth contract extension for Jungmann since he began working for SPS in July, 2014.

The board cited several examples of success during his time at the helm of the district including early childhood expansion, collaboration with other school districts and engagement of citizens through the Community Task Force on Facilities.

According to SPS, the contract details and benefits, adopted by the Board of Education in January 2016, remain unchanged with the one-year extension. Dr. Jungmann's annual base salary for 2018-2019 is $265,110.
