hillcrest61.net

The Springfield Board of Education has received final recommendations for a facility master plan, which would be implemented over 12 years.

Some of the projects in phase one of the plan include new elementary/middle school campuses that would combine Pipkin and Boyd; Reed and Robberson and Jarrett and Portland.  A new elementary/middle school campus is also recommended for Pershing.  Phase one also includes renovations at Hillcrest, Glendale and Kickapoo High Schools; renovations and additions at Sunshine Elementary; and renovations at Pleasant View, Jeffries, Pittman, Wilder, Field, Disney and Holland as well as additional classes for early childhood.

Phase two includes renovations at several school buildings as well as new buildings for Williams; Bissett/York and Bingham.

According to SPS, "full implementation of the recommendations includes the closing and repurposing of Campbell, Delaware, York and Bowerman elementary schools with students from these schools being reassigned to other elementary schools."

The total cost to implement the plan is expected to be $367.6 million.  According to SPS, funding the plan would require asking voters to increase the district’s debt service levy.
