First Friday Art Walk is Friday night (1/4) from 6 to 10 at 16 locations in downtown Springfield. 

The Park Central Branch Library will host an opening event for the new exhibit, Dr. Twistid’s Monstrous Visual Treats:  Art by Geff Bertrand Friday (1/4) from 6 to 9 p.m.  Adults are invited to take part in Bad Art Night and see if their creation can earn “Worst in Show.”  Learn more here

Adults are invited to “Coloring and Cocoa”Friday (1/4) from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Strafford Branch Library.  It’s a quiet coloring session for adults with cocoa and coffee. 

The ReMarkaPaul Trio will perform at BookMarx Friday (1/4) at 4 p.m.  Admission is $5.  Learn more here

Eureka Springs Paranormal Weekend is Friday through Sunday (1/4-1/6) and January 11-13 at the Crescent and Basin Park Hotels.  

The fourth annual Fresh Start 5K and 10Kwill start Saturday (1/5) at 10 a.m. from the CNH Reman parking lot, 2707 N. Farm Rd. 123 in Springfield, and will continue on the Frisco-Highline Trail.  Proceeds benefit Reentry and Resources, which helps citizens with felony criminal histories and their families after they’ve served their sentences. 

The Little Acorns program, "Charming Chickadees," for ages three to six, will start Saturday (1/5) at 11:15 a.m. at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center, 4601 S. Nature Center Way in Springfield.  Registration is required. 

The Ozarks Romance Authors will host a Mega Write-In Saturday (1/5) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell in Springfield.  Take a laptop and work alongside other writers. 

The free class, “How to Write your Memoir or Life Story,” will be held Saturday (1/5) from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Library Center.  For more information, (417) 987-6008.

The Farmers Market of the Ozarks will kick off their winter hours Saturday (1/5), which will continue through March 16.  Hours will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. 

Teens in seventh through 12th grade can stay in their p.j.’s and watch cartoons Saturday morning (1/5) from 9 a.m. to noon at the Christian County Library Ozark Branch, 1005 N. 4th Ave. in Ozark.  Cereal will be provided.  Learn more here

Adults are invited to create a vision board, a physical representation of their goals for 2019, Saturday (1/5) at 1 p.m. at the Christian County Library Nixa Branch, 208 McCroskey in Nixa.  Learn more here

“Cozy Saturday Afternoon with Meg & Tom”is Saturday (1/5) from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Christian County Library Ozark Branch, 1005 N. 4th Ave. in Ozark.  Adults are invited to watch “Sleepless in Seattle” at 1 and “You’ve Got Mail” at 3.  The library will provide snacks, but feel free to take your own. 

A Contra Dance will be held Saturday (1/5) from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club Henderson Unit, 835 W. Calhoun.  Basic steps will be taught at 6:55.  Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for youth and Traditional Dance & Music Society of the Ozarks members. 

The National Antique Tractor Pullers Association will host an Antique Tractor Pull Saturday (1/5) from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cowan Civic Center, 500 E. Elm in Lebanon. 

The Ozark Area Racer Reunion will be held Saturday (1/5) at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds E-Plex.  Doors open at 4 p.m., and the ceremony starts at 6:30.  The Ozarks Area Racers Foundation will also host a blood drive with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks Saturday from 2 to 5 at the E-Plex.  Learn more here

"Sunday Make ‘n Play" will be held Sunday (1/6) from 2 to 4 for kids age three through grade four at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  Drop in for a hands-on, interactive experience with a maker, play and art focus.  

 

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand.
