Springfield Sister Cities Association

The 23rd annual Japanese Fall Festival is Friday (9/7) from 5 to 10 p.m., Saturday (9/8) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday (9/9) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  The festival will include folk dancing, traditional music, games, storytelling, Taiko drumming, tea ceremonies, food vendors and more.  Admission Friday night is $7 for adults and $3 for 12 and under.  Admission Saturday is $10 for adults and $3 for 12 and under.  Kids two and under get in free.

Family Fridays in the Garden continues Friday night (8/31) at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  The program, “From Garden to Grocer,” starts at 7:30.  Meet on the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center’s rooftop garden. 

The last “Yoga on the Square” for the summer will start at noon Friday (8/31) on Park Central Square.  Take yoga mats and water.

Raise the Roof for Eden Village, an evening of live music, a silent auction and more to benefit the tiny home community that houses homeless individuals, will start Friday night (8/24) at 7 at The Complex, 307 Park Central East. 

The Queen City Shout Music Festival continues through Sunday (8/26) on Commercial Street.   Proceeds go toward poverty relief in the Ozarks. 

National Park Foundation

Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield will celebrate the 157th anniversary of the Battle of Wilson’s Creek Friday (8/10).  An anniversary program will start at 10 a.m. in front of the visitor center, and tours of the Ray House will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Entrance fees will be waived Friday. 


Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon will present “Ozark Astronomy” Friday night (7/27) at 8:45.  A telescope will be set up, and you can view a variety of constellations and planets.
