A fundraiser for Ozarks Food Harvest, Empty Bowls, will be held Friday (9/27) from 4 to 8 at Panera, 4100 S. Campbell in Springfield.  Those who donate will receive a ceramic or wooden bowl made by local artists as well as a meal of soup and bread. 

The seminar,“Hills & Trees: Preserving the Natural Character of a City,” will be presented by Branson city planner, Perry Eckhardt, Friday afternoon (9/27) at 2:30 in Temple Hall, Room 345, at MSU. 

The Heart of the Ozarks Bluegrass Association is hosting the HOBA Bluegrass Festival through Saturday (9/28) at HOBA Park, 1138 Bluegrass Lane in West Plains. 

The Tri-State Gem and Mineral Society will hostRock-A-Thon, the 21st Annual Gem and Mineral Expo, Friday (9/27) and Saturday (9/28) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday (9/29) from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Joplin Historical and Mineral Museum, 504 Schifferdecker Ave. in Joplin.

The Carl Junction Bluegrass Festival is Friday through Sunday (9/27-9/29) at Center Creek Park, 201 Valley Lane in Carl Junction.  Besides bluegrass music, the event will include a car and bike show, craft booths, kids’ activities and more. 

The play, “Crimes of the Heart,” continues through Monday (10/1) in MSU’s Craig Hall Coger Theatre. 

Springfield Little Theatre presents "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at the Landers Theatre through Sunday (9/29).

Joplin Little Theatre presents “Xanadu” through Sunday (9/29) at 3009 W. First St. in Joplin.  It follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse who descends from the heavens of Mount Olympus to Venice Beach, CA in 1980. 

The Staff Picks Series at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, will feature the 1972 film, “The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie,” Friday night (9/27) at 9:15 and Saturday afternoon (9/28) at 2:30. 

The Republic Parks and Recreation Department will host the 7th Annual Senior Dine and DanceFriday night (9/27) from 5 to 8:30at the Republic Activities Building.  Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the Republic Community Center, 711 E. Miller Rd. 

In celebration of Scooby-Doo’s 50th birthday, the Shake Ups will present a concert Friday night (9/27) at 5:30 at the Christian County Library Nixa Branch, 208 N. McCroskey. 

Moxie Mornings will be held Saturday morning (9/28) at 10 at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield.  Children two to six-years-old will watch an innovative short film followed by an art activity. 

A Monarch Butterfly Tag and Release event will be held Saturday afternoon (9/28) at 2 at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  Volunteers will catch and band monarch butterflies. 

Bennett Spring State Park in Lebanon will host Women’s Free Fishing Day Saturday (9/28) from 7:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m.  No trout tags will be required for women, and there will be displays and activities between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  A special zone will be set aside just for women. 

Christian County Master Gardeners will host a fall plant sale Saturday morning (9/28) from 8 to 11 at Assembly of God Church at Main and Highway 14 in Nixa.  Trees, shrubs, perennials, house plants and more will be available for purchase. 

The Missouri State University women’s soccer team will host Valparaiso Saturday afternoon (9/28) at 2 at Allison South Stadium.  Learn more here

The Do Good Festival will be held Saturday (9/28) on two stages at Tie & Timber Beer Co., 1451 E. Cherry in Springfield. 

The 10th Annual Springfield Jazz Festival is Saturday (9/28) from noon to 7 p.m. in downtown Springfield with a variety of performances at several venues. 

Guitarist Lee Ritenourwill take the stage at the Gillioz Theatre, 325 Park Central East in Springfield, Saturday night (9/28) at 8. 

The Junior League of Springfield’s Fall Home Tour 2019 is Saturday (9/28) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Tour six homes and enjoy live music and cooking demonstrations. 

The Pregnancy Care Center will host Walk for Life Saturday morning (9/28) from 9 to noon at 1342 E. Primrose in Springfield. 

A river cleanup will be held Saturday (9/28) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Buffalo National River.  Volunteers are needed, but you must sign up if you’d like to help. 

Volunteers are needed to help withtrail work on the Boxley section of the Buffalo River Trail in Arkansas Saturday (9/28) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

The Fair Grove Historical and Preservation Society will host the Fair Grove Heritage Reunion FestivalSaturday and Sunday (9/28-9/29) at Wommack Mill and grounds and downtown.  This event includes many craft booths, live music, food, demonstrations, a parade (Saturday morning at 10) and more.  Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. 

AIDS Project of the Ozarks will host the AIDS Walk Saturday (9/28) at 10 a.m. at Phelps Grove Park in Springfield.  Registration starts at 9.  The event will include carnival games, a bounce house, a dog-stacle course, prizes, food and drinks and more. 

No entrance fees will be charged Saturday (9/28) at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield in observance of National Public Lands Day.

Harvest Fest at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park, 3825 W. Farm Road 146 in Springfield, will be held Saturday (9/28) through October 27.  The event will offer a haunted maze, hayrides, a corn maze, a pumpkin patch, bounce house, carnival games, pony rides, crafts and more.  Some activities require a fee. 

“Romancing the Station,” and event for romance writers and readers, will be held Saturday (9/28) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Library Station. 

“Scooby-Doo: The Movie” will be shown Saturday morning (9/28) at 10:30 at the Library Center.

Drumming in the Park is Saturday night (9/28) from 6 to 8 in Basin Spring Park in downtown Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

The Big Cats and Chrome Music Festival is Saturday (9/28) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, 239 Turpentine Creek Lane, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. 

The third annual "Schweitzer Brentwood’s Got Talent: A Neighborhood Talent Show for All Ages”will start Sunday afternoon (9/29) at 2.
