Featuring historical markers throughout Springfield, the trail honors individuals and locations that have played a significant role in shaping the city’s African American heritage.

The latest marker in the Springfield-Greene County African-American Heritage Trail honors the life and memory of Walls. She was denied entry to the University in 1950 because of the color of her skin.
