Here's how to decipher food labels to make better choices at the grocery store

Registered dietitian nutritionist Jaime Gnau helps you understand the information on food packaging.

Our weekly program, Missouri State Journal, is a collaboration between KSMU Radio and Missouri State University. It's hosted and produced by MSU's Office of Strategic Communication, and it airs each Tuesday morning at 9:45 on KSMU. 

From nutrition facts to the ingredients list and allergen details, it takes time and effort to make sense of food labels.

But paying attention to and understanding the information on them helps to promote healthy eating and consumer awareness.

Last week on the Missouri State Journal, registered dietitian nutritionist Jaime Gnau explained the type of claims on food labels.

This week, Gnau, who’s also clinical assistant professor of nutrition and dietetics at Missouri State University, addresses making more informed food choices based on the labels.
