Missouri State University

Tour of the Globe is Friday night (11/1) from 6 to 9 at the Jim D. Morris Center, 301 S. Jefferson in Springfield. Missouri State University international students will share art, music, dance, food and more with the community.  Free admission.  

Dr. Yakov Smirnoff will present “Laughter—A Bridge Across the Aisle”Friday night (11/1) at 7:30 in the Plaster Student Union Theatre at MSU.  

The program, “Date Night with a Medical Examiner,” will be held Friday night (11/1) at 7 for adults at the Library Center.  The chief forensic investigator for the Greene County Medical Examiner will host the presentation and Q & A.  It’s a Death & Dying Series event.  

The Skaggs Foundation will host the Fall Bazaar Friday (11/1) from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cox Branson Outpatient Center lobby and cafeteria.  Find gifts, home décor, treats and more. 

Midwest Regional Ballet will present “This is Halloween” Friday and Saturday night (11/1-11/2) at 7:30 and Saturday and Sunday (11/2-11/3) at 2:05 in Joplin.  

Drury University will host Mid-America Christian University in an exhibition game Friday night (11/1) at 7.  

First Friday Art Walk is Friday night (11/1) from 5 tto 9 at 19 locations in downtown Springfield.

The Branson Regional Arts Council presents “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”through November 10 at the Historic Owen Theatre in downtown Branson.  

Springfield Contemporary Theatre presents “Death Valley: A Love Story” through November 10.  

The Missouri State University Department of Religious Studies will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a reception Friday (11/1) from 3 to 6 in Strong Hall.  View a photo exhibit, enjoy refreshments and visit with faculty.  

Learn how to identify waterfowl during a program Friday afternoon (11/1) at 1 at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  Registration is required.  

Putt by Numbers: Miniature Golfat Brick City is Friday night (11/1) from 5 to 9.  Sculpture students have designed nine mini-putt holes inspired by 20th Century art movements.   The cost is $5 for students and $10 for the public.   

Demos in the Dark is Friday night (11/1) from 6 to 7:30 outside Temple Hall on the MO State University campus.  The MSU Chapter of the American Chemical Society will perform chemistry demos.  

The Garden Nights Out: Pie Clinic will start Friday night (11/1) at 7 at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  Participants will make a pie crust and filling and take their pie home with them.  The cost is $30 for one person or $45 for two.  

The Sixth Annual Springfield Metaphysical Fair is Friday (11/1) from 1 to 8, Saturday (11/2) from 10 to 8 and Sunday (11/3) from 10 to 4 at Relics Event Center, 2015 W. Battlefield in Springfield.  

Fall Diversity Weekend is Friday, Saturday and Sunday (11/1-11/3) in Eureka Springs, Arkansas with a variety of events.  

The Missouri State University Ice Hockey Bears will host the University of Alabama Friday and Saturday night (11/1-11/2) at 7 at Jordan Valley Ice Park.  Learn more here.  

Bison Hikes will be held Saturday (11/2) at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Prairie State Park in Mindenmines, MO.  Registration is required.  

The first annual Heroes 5K Run to raise money for the Sunshine Brotherhood Charity will start Saturday morning (11/2) at 8:30 at the Willard Community Center, 222 W. Jackson in Willard.  

The Willard Veterans Day Parade will be held Saturday morning (11/2) at 11 in Willard with a flag retirement ceremony at 1:30 at Jackson Street Park.   

The Out of the Darkness Walk to End Suicide will be held Saturday (11/2) from noon to 5 at Mercy Park in Joplin.  

The City of Springfield Environmental Services will host the Day of Pumpkin Smashing Customer Appreciation Saturday (11/2) at the Yardwaste Recycling Center, 3790 S. Farm Rd. 119 in Brookline.  The event will include coffee and doughnuts and giveaways from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and a pumpkin smash from 11 to 2.  

A book signing for “Jack Sprout in Beaver Creek Meadow” with author, Jack Shoop, is Saturday (11/2) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Library Center.  

Wingapalooza 2019 is Saturday (11/2) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Springfield Expo Center, 635 E. St. Louis.  Proceeds will benefit children in the Ozarks.  

The Four State Beekeeping Conference is Saturday (11/2) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. 

The Willow Springs Arts Council will host the Arts and Crafts Fair Saturday (11/2) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ferguson Building.  

Moxie Mornings, for kids two to six-years-old, is Saturday morning (11/2) at 10 at the Moxie, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield.  Kids will watch an innovative short film and create an art project.  

Celebrate Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Saturday (11/2) from 4 to 8 at Basin Spring Park in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.  Learn more here.  

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2200 W. Republic Rd. in Springfield, will host the 12th Annual Fall Bazaar Saturday (11/2) from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

The Youth Garage Sale will be held Saturday (11/2) from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Republic Parks and Recreation, 711 E. Miller in Republic.  

Southwest Missouri Micro Con, a comic book show, will be held Saturday (11/2) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University Plaza Convention Center, 333 S. John Q. Hammons Parkway.

“The Dollars and Sense of Estate Planning” will be held Saturday (11/2) at noon at the Library Center.  It’s part of the Death & Dying Series.  

“How to Write your Own Obituary” will be held Saturday (11/2) at 3 at the Library Center.  It’s part of the Death & Dying Series.  

“The Realities of Death” will be held Saturday night (11/2) at 7 at the Library Center.  Dr. Albert Leonardo, medical director of Mercy Supportive and Palliative Care, will discuss end-of-life processes and medical care to provide a realistic picture of how we die as medical advancements offer to prolong our lives at any cost.  He’ll also discuss the differences between hospice and palliative care and the importance of advance care planning.  It’s a Death & Dying Series event.  

Learn how women of the 19th century created a neat, lady-like appearance by using undergarments during a program Saturday afternoon (11/2) at 1 at the Gray-Campbell Farmstead, 2400 S. Scenic in Springfield.  Participants will receive a chemise pattern, learn about various undergarments and discuss when it was appropriate to wear a crinoline hoop skirt. The cost is $15, and you must rsvp.

Drury Humanities presents the 1935 film, “A Night at the Opera,” Saturday afternoon (11/2) at 1 at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield.  

The Springfield Dance Alliance will host their fall dance concert Saturday night (11/2) at 7 and Sunday afternoon (11/3) at 2 at the Springfield Art Museum.  

The End of Season Skate Fundraiser for the Springfield Roller Derby will be held Sunday night (11/23 from 6 to 8 at the Shrine Mosque.  Admission is $10.  

The Mid-Town Concert Series at Central Christian Church, 1475 N. Washington in Springfield, continues Sunday (11/3) at 3.  It will feature organist, Dr. Melody Turnquist-Steed.  

“Sunday Make ‘N Play”is Sunday (11/3) from 2 to 4 at the Schweitzer Brentwood Branch Library.  It’s for kids three-years-old to grade four.  

The Essentials Film Series at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, will feature the 1976 film, “Taxi Driver,” Sunday night (11/3) at 7:45 and Monday night (11/4) at 7.  

The local film, “Witness at Tornillo,” produced by Carbon Trace Productions, will be shown at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, Sunday night (11/3) at 6.
