Local Candidate, Ballot Issue Forums Kick Off This Week

Correction: an earlier version of this story failed to list candidate Vicke Kepling in the Missouri House District 135 race.  Kepling, a Green Party candidate, will participate in Thursday's virtual forum. We regret the error, and the story has been edited to reflect the correction.

A partnership of ten organizations from the Springfield area is hosting political forums on candidates and issues ahead of the November 3 election. The public is invited to view those virtually, starting this week.

There will be four virtual forums, three of which feature candidates in Missouri House legislative districts in Springfield.

Tuesday’s forum features State Representative Crystal Quade and her Republican challenger, Sarah Semple. That starts at 5:30 p.m.

Then on Thursday, two more forums will feature candidates for the state house districts 134 and 135.   The first online forum will be at 5:00 p.m. between Alex Riley and Derrick Nowlin.  And Thursday’s second forum will begin at 7:00 p.m., featuring incumbent Steve Helms and challengers Vicke Kepling and Betsy Fogle.

The fourth forum is a pro-con discussion on Amendment 3, hosted by Drury University. That forum will take place virtually on October 14 at 7:00 p.m., and it will be rebroadcast by KSMU Tuesday, October 20 at 7 PM. .
