New Police Chief Named for City of Ozark

Owensboro Police Department

The city of Ozark has hired its next police chief. Tim Clothier is a major with the Owensboro, Kentucky Police Department. He’ll begin his duties Sept. 28.

Clothier’s appointment comes after the recent resignation of longtime chief Lyle Hodges, who retired in late June. Hodges had been reprimanded following a review into the department to address alleged wrongdoings.

Former Springfield Police Major Steve Ijames has been serving as interim police chief and helped in the hiring process. He says Clothier emerged as the top candidate among nearly 45 applicants.

Clothier, who has more than 24 years of law enforcement experience, has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Kentucky Wesleyan College. He’s expected to complete his master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati this December. Clothier is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
