The Greene County Commission has signed a commission order approving a collective bargaining agreement between the county and the bargaining unit employees of the Greene County Highway Department.  The employees are represented by the Service Employees International Union, Local-1-Missouri Division.

According to a news release from the county, the agreement is "the result of negotiations between the management of the Highway Department, Greene County Human Resources, Greene County Counsel and members of the SEIU Local-1 from August 2014 through April 27, 2015 when it was ratified by members of the union at the Greene County Highway Department."

Highway Department director, Rick Artman, says he believes the contract is "a benefit to both parties" and will serve them well in the future.

"This agreement is representative of the positive outcome that results whne both parties sit down adn negotiate in good faith with the best interests of Highway Department employees and the County in mind," said Greene County presiding commissioner, Bob Cirtin.

The agreement is effective immediately and will remain in effect until December 31, 2017.
