Branson Board Considers Allowing Alcohol in Entertainment Districts, including Landing

City of Branson

Right now, visitors to Branson are not legally allowed to carry alcoholic beverages throughout the Landing—but Branson’s Board of Aldermen is considering a resolution to allow alcohol in open areas of entertainment districts throughout the city.

Although alcohol is allowed in entertainment districts during certain holidays and special events, it is not allowed regularly in these areas. This is what the board will consider changing.

A press release from the city says officials believe a new resolution allowing alcohol more often in outdoors areas of entertainment districts aligns with Branson’s community plan and would spur growth of the local economy.

Melody Pettit, a spokeswoman for the city, said officials feel the proposal would not conflict with Branson’s family values.

The city first needs approval from the state to create such a local ordinance.

If approved, the board would have control over the specific language in the local ordinance.

The board will discuss the proposed resolution at their meeting on Nov. 27 at 6 p.m.
