PDMP Counties in Southwest Missouri Growing

PDMP
St. Louis County PDMP

Stone County is the latest government entity to join St. Louis County’s prescription drug monitoring program.

Officials made the decision on Oct. 17. It allows doctors and pharmacists access to the database to crack down on prescription drug shoppers.

Cities and counties across the state have been joining the St. Louis County monitoring program, which covers more than half of Missouri’s population. The state as a whole does not have a PDMP that allows providers to look at data on their patients, which would require an act of the legislature. But through an executive order by Gov. Eric Greitens earlier this year, there is a program that tracks data on doctors and pharmacists themselves.

Springfield-Greene County, along with McDonald County in southwest Missouri were onboarded this month to the St. Louis County program after recently electing to join. Jasper and Polk counties have also in the past couple months approved ordinances to join the PDMP.
