Missouri State University says the school’s Foundation office raised over $18 million in Fiscal Year 2014 is one of the highest totals in its history.

The $18.3 million in gifts is second to the $20.3 million raised in 2012. Another $1.4 million in deferred gifts will come to the university at later dates through bequests, trusts, annuities, life insurance and other instruments. The money will help fund programs, scholarships, equipment and other needs across campus.

In a news release, President Clif Smart says the school is “gratified for the continued support of our alumni and friends.”

The Missouri State University Foundation received more than 40,000 gifts from over 21,000 donors in the fiscal year that ended June 30.

Since its founding as the school’s fundraising arm in 1981, the Foundation has received nearly $229 million in donations.
