A recent check found most businesses with liquor licenses in Branson are in compliance with the city’s liquor code.

The city conducted random compliance checks April 8th and 9th to determine if clerks were verifying that the purchaser was of legal age to buy alcohol.

According to a news release from the city, Branson police officers worked with minors to conduct the spot checks of businesses throughout the city.

Eighty-six businesses were checked, and 80 of them were found to be in compliance with the liquor code.

According to the city, these businesses were not in compliance:  Charlie's Steak Ribs & Ale, 3009 W. Hwy. 76; Chateau on the Lake, 415 Hwy. 265; Danna's Bar B Que & Burger Shop, 963 S. Hwy 165; Olive Garden, 3790 W. Hwy. 76 and Walgreen's, 210 S. Hwy. 165.

The 93 percent compliance rate has been steadily improving since a 72 percent compliance rate a few years ago.

The city of Branson credits the compliance checks as well as training that’s required of servers, cashiers and bartenders for the improvement.  The next “Responsible Liquor Selling” training session will be held May 14th at city hall.
