Dozens of agency partners with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks will participate in the second annual Give Ozarks Day, a 24-hour online fundraising event.

The event is scheduled from midnight Tuesday until 11:59 pm. Last year, the event raised more than $1 million. Louise Knauer is the senior vice president of communications and marketing at CFO. Knauer byte 1 Time: 7 seconds

“We’re just trying to encourage philanthropy and an awareness of the fact that anyone can participate in this.”

Knauer said 225 organizations are expected to participate in this year’s event, a 50 percent increase from last year. Due to the participation increase, CFO also expects a 50 percent increase in donations, around $1.5 million.

One participating organization, Council of Churches of the Ozarks, will arrange for fundraising alongside services planned for the day. There will be nine in all, says annual giving coordinator Liz Maddy.

“What we primarily do through our different services is we provide food, clothing and shelter. So, that’s what we’ll be raising money for,” says Maddy.

Arc of the Ozarks will participate in Give Ozarks Day by hosting a swingathon, a 24-hour porch swing effort to raise money for a playground at Rivendale Institute of Learning and Center for Autism,

“This playground will be inclusive and accessible for all children with developmental disabilities.”

Arc of The Ozarks Director of Development Danielle Wise said that several special guests will show up to the fundraising event, including Louie from the Springfield Cardinals and Missouri State Head Football Coach Dave Steckel.
