Weekend Outlook December 21-23, 2018

Springfield-Greene County Park Board

This is the last weekend for Evening Strolls through the Garden at Nathaniel Greene-Close Memorial Park.  The Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden will be open from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday (12/21-12/22). 

A Holiday Train Garden Display is at the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center, 2400 S. Scenic, through December 31.  Hours are Monday through Saturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

Minute-to-Win-it Reindeer Games will start Friday (12/21) at 12:30 at the Willard Branch Library for anyone in grades four through nine.  Play games and watch "Prancer," rated G.  Snacks will be provided.  

Parent Cafe: Special Needs Edition will be held Friday night (12/21) at 6 at the Library Center.  Dinner and childcare will be provided.  The program, presented by Include Ozarks and the Community Partnership of the Ozarks, will allow parents to connect with other special needs parents and learn about community resources.  

The Branson Gift of Lights holiday light display is open nightly through January 1 at Shepherd of the Hills Expressway at Expressway Lane.  

The Festival of Lights holiday light display is open nightly through December 31 at Highways 37 and 60 in Monett.  

The Christmas Lights of the Ozarksholiday light display is at Finley River Park in Ozark, 1075 N. Riverside, through January 8.  

The Christmas Tree Forestis at the Crescent Hotel Gardens, 75 Prospect in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, through January 1.  More than 30 trees are on display, and visitors can vote for their favorite.  Proceeds benefit local charities.  

The local film, “Space Buddies,” will be shown at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, Friday (12/21) at 9:30 p.m.  It will be followed by a Q & A with the filmmakers.  

Teen Friday Nights, for kids in grades six through 12, will be held Friday night (12/21) 6 to 8 at the Library Station.  

The Missouri State University men’s basketball team will host UAPB Saturday (12/22) at 1 p.m. at JQH Arena.  Learn more here

The Little Acorns program, “Classy Cardinals,” will be held Saturday (12/22) at 11:15 a.m. at the Springfield Conservation Nature Center.  Registration is required.  

A Holiday Movie Marathon for kids will be held Saturday (12/22) from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Christian County Library Ozark Branch, 1005 N. 4th.  Besides watching holiday movies, kids can have a snack and make a holiday-themed craft.  

The film, “The Royal Ballet Presents the Nutcracker,” filmed at the Royal Opera House in London on December 3, will be shown at the Moxie Cinema, 305 S. Campbell in Springfield, Saturday and Sunday (12/22-12/23).
