Election Day has arrived. Polls opened at 6 this morning and will remain open until 7 p.m. If you’re in line by 7 p.m. you will get to vote.
If you’re not sure where your polling place is you can find out by contacting your local county clerk. The Greene County Clerk’s website has a page dedicated to finding your precinct and polling location. Springfield has a central polling location at the Davis-Harrington Welcome Center on Bear Boulevard at National on the Missouri State University campus where anyone in the county can cast a ballot.
You can also view a sample ballot on your county clerk’s website so you’ll be prepared when you get to your polling site.
Greene County Clerk Shane Shoeller has predicted a 55 to 60 percent voter turnout today, and Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft predicts around 55 percent voter turnout, so lines may be long. If you don’t have much time to vote, avoid going during peak times in the early morning before many people go to work and after 5 p.m. when many are getting off work.
According to Ashcroft’s office, voters are encouraged to report any registration or voting problems to their local election official or by calling the office at 866-868-3245.
KSMU will provide election coverage starting at 7 p.m. and going until midnight as results trickle in with both national coverage from NPR and local election coverage.
