Commercial Club of Springfield

An event Sunday night on Commercial Street will be a place to share ideas.

The Jefferson Avenue Footbridge on Springfield’s historic Commercial Street has been closed since 2016. The move came after the city deemed the 122-year-old structure unsafe. Now, with an infusion of funding from the state of Missouri, the bridge could be restored by fall of next year.

When Springfield City Council voted to adopt a new city flag earlier this year, it didn’t happen without controversy. Now north Springfield’s Commercial Club is celebrating the new flag — along with the old one.
