Volunteers Needed for Earth Day Project this Week in Springfield

A great way to celebrate Earth Day is to do something for the environment.  And a work day Friday will let you do just that.

The day of volunteering is being coordinated by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board, Springfield Botanical Gardens, Friends of the Garden and Greene County Extension.

Help is needed for garden beautification projects, including mulching, weeding, spreading gravel and planting, according to Kelly McGowan, horticulture educator with University of Missouri Extension.

Registration will begin at 8:30 am with coffee and a brief history and overview of the Springfield Botanical Gardens.  The work day will run from 9 to 11 am.

Pre-registration is required at 874-2965 or mcgowank@missouri.edu
