Winter Weather Closes Schools for Second Day in a Row

Up to 3 ½ inches of snow has fallen on the Ozarks, closing schools across the area, including Springfield Public Schools.

National Weather Service meteorologist Gene Hatch said they’ve recorded 1 ½” at the airport, but parts of south Springfield received more.

The snow has moved off to the northeast, but Hatch expects more winter precipitation to fall.

"We are expecting to see some lingering light snow showers or flurries and potentially even some freezing drizzle moving across the area later this morning and through this afternoon," he said.

He said that could cause travel problems for the Ozarks.
