FMO to Allow Only Approved Dogs at Market

If you want to take your dog to Farmers Market of the Ozarks, they’ll have to pass a test first.  Starting Saturday (4/11), the market is asking customers to enroll their canine friends in its Good Citizen Training Program.  It includes evaluations, classes and a bandana for each dog to wear while strolling around the marketplace.

FMO executive director, Lane McConnell, says only pets that have been approved through the program will be allowed on market premises.

According to McConnell, the Canine Good Citizen Program has been implemented at the market due to an excessive number of animals that are not socialized for public places like a farmers market.  She says “certain situations over the past four years” have prompted them to take a proactive approach to protect the marketplace as a friendly place for everyone.

On-site pet evaluations will take place on Saturday at Farmers Park during market hours through a partnership with Springfield Side Kick Dog Training.  To make a reservations for testing, clickhere.
