Parents are likely wondering: How can I give my children a safe Halloween this year in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic?
The Springfield-Greene County Health Department has issued guidelines to help organizations, neighborhoods and families navigate the challenges of celebrating the holiday this year.
Some tips from the health department: Avoid indoor gatherings and crowded outdoor gatherings; don’t substitute cloth masks from Halloween masks unless they’re made of two or more layers of breathable fabric that covers the mouth and nose. Health officials suggest using a Halloween-themed cloth mask; and stay home if you’re sick. And they suggest setting aside candy collected by trick-or-treaters for 72 hours in case the packaging is contaminated with the coronavirus.
The health department encourages organizers of haunted houses to move them outside if possible.
