On Tuesday, June 15, about 200 residents of the Wilson’s Creek and Brookhaven Nursing and Rehab facilities will get the opportunity for a large-scale birthday party after the isolating year of 2020.

The Council of Churches of the Ozarks, as part of their Long-term Care Ombudsman program, is hosting the outdoor birthday party for all residents at once, complete with food trucks, games and prizes.

Council of Churches’ Director of Development Marc Truby said this will be a true morale booster and an event to remember.

“This has just been missed. It’s been lost for a year and this is one of those moments we really want to go above and beyond for all these folks,” Truby said.

Council of Churches hopes to host a similar event in the Fall for other facilities. And it says its Long-term Care Ombudsman program needs volunteers to visit and advocate for residents. To learn more about volunteering in the program, you can send an email to Cpayne@ccozarks.org
