As COVID-19 continues to spread, healthcare workers fighting the outbreak are facing extraordinary circumstances that could take a toll on their mental health. Burrell Behavioral Health is offering those workers free resources to get through the crisis.
“I Cannot Quarantine: I Am on the Front Lines”—that’s the name of the program Burrell is offering pandemic health care workers in the Ozarks. It’s a series of videos meant to teach self-care from licensed psychologists. The videos offer tips on how to recognize self-trauma and how to maintain mental health while working, according to Burrell's Facebook and Twitter accounts.
Along with the videos, Burrell will offer access to an anonymous peer phone call service to connect with other healthcare workers for emotional support and coping strategies. Those calls will be held every Wednesday at 7:30 A.M. and P.M. The first calls begin April 15 and health care workers can learn more at https://burrell.formstack.com/forms/healthcare_videos_covid.
Burrell spokesman Matt Lemmon says the organization plans to begin sending video links out this week.
