Attorney General to Defend Senate's Right to Ban Video Coverage

MO Secretary of State's Office

The Attorney General will defend the Senate for banning video coverage of committee hearings.  Hannah Knight has more from Jefferson City.

A liberal activist group filed a lawsuit against Senators after being banned from recording a committee hearing.

In the same week, the Senate passed a bill that would allow outside legal counsel to be brought in instead of the Attorney General.

Senate Majority Floor Leader, Ron Richard said "we just want to be able to use those funds to represent us when we need attorney representatives and if the Attorney General decides not to do that we just want access to someone who will do that for us."

The bill comes in response to the Attorney General not defending the General Assembly on legislative issues in the past.
