One day after the Springfield-Greene County Health Department announced 12 people had died of COVID-19, it confirmed 11 more deaths from the illness on Wednesday.
According to the health department, the latest deaths are a man in his 60s, three women in their 70s, four men in their 80s, a man and a woman in their 90s and a woman over 100.
Thirty-five Greene County residents have died of COVID-19 in October, and there’s been a total of 112 deaths.
Springfield-Greene County Health Department director, Clay Goddard, said in a news release the deaths are reminders that COVID-19 isn’t over, that’s it’s deadly and everyone has a part of play in preventing its spread.
As of Wednesday morning, there were 2,989 active cases and a total of 7,858 cases since the pandemic started. There were 142 in the hospital with COVID-19 in Springfield, and 30 of them were in the ICU. Forty-six of those hospitalized were from Greene County.
