Greene County Records Its 50th Death From COVID-19

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department says another person has died in the county of COVID-19.  The latest death was a woman in her 60s with underlying health conditions who was associated with long-term care.

There have now been 50 people who have died of COVID-19 in Greene County—20 of those this month.

As of Sunday, there were 5,564 cases of COVID-19 recorded in the county, and 2,215 of those were active.  As of Friday, 114 people were hospitalized with the illness in Greene County.

Missouri recorded 1,328 new coronavirus cases on Sunday bringing the total number of cases since the pandemic began to 112,844.  There have been 1,795 deaths from COVID-19.

Wright County saw the top percentage increase in the past seven days.  Cases there increased 55 percent—from 157 on Sunday, September 13, to 244 on September 20.  Texas, Ozark, Cedar and Howell Counties were also on the list of the 10 counties with the highest percentage increase in cases in the last week.
