State officials are restricting the use of an historic bridge at Bennett Spring State Park in order to extend the structure’s life.

The park, near Lebanon, is one of the main spots for anglers on the opening day of trout season, which is March 1.

According to park officials, due to damage caused by RVs and large trucks to the Bramwell Bridge, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources is using restrictive barriers to redirect RVs and large trucks to the park’s main entrance at Highway 64 and 64A.  Passenger vehicles under five tons will be able to cross the bridge starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, February 28.

They say area residents and park users showed overwhelming support for keeping the bridge open.
