Student Behind Threat Aimed at Branson Junior High Detained

Branson Police held a news conference Tuesday following a threat made on Instagram referencing violence at Branson Junior High.

According to police, they immediately launched an investigation with the Taney County Juvenile Office and the Branson School District that lasted through much of Tuesday.  A Branson Junior High student was identified and was interviewed.  Police determined the student acted alone and had no plan or means to carry out the threat.

The student was released to the Taney County Juvenile Office pending charges.

The Branson Police Department and the Branson School District say they want the community and students to know that they “take the safety of everyone in our schools extremely serious.”

They say any threats will be immediately investigated and they pointed out there are multiple resources in the community for students who need help or who want someone to talk with.

According to Branson Police, if you receive or see a threat on social media, contact your local police department and provide as much information as possible.
