Springfield-Greene County Library Receives Grant for Brentwood Renovation

yourlibraryfoundation.org

The Springfield-Greene County Library is close to reaching its campaign goal for renovating the Brentwood Branch.  The library recently announced approval of a C.W. Titus Foundation grant of $300,000 toward the Re-New Brentwood campaign.  That leaves $200,000 left to raise of the $2.5 million goal.

The library branch is scheduled to close April 16th with renovations to begin in May.  The project is expected to take six to nine months to complete.

The Brentwood Library opened in April of 1971 and got a partial facelift in 1994, according to the library district.

The renovation will include adding about 1500 square feet and making better use of the existing space.  There will be a drive-up window, more parking, several small-group meeting rooms, an energy-efficient heating and air-conditioning system, an enlarged and secure children’s area, a teen/young adult area and a quiet, dedicated computer area.

The library district expects the project to meet LEED certification requirements.
