Season tickets were already in the hands of fans of the AA Springfield Cardinals when those who wanted access to single game seats for the 72 game season secured a place in line in front of the Hammons Field box office by camping out. Mike Smith has the story:

The sounds of sleeping bag and nylon tent zippers filled the air at Hammons Field the morning of February 25th. At 5am the day before single game tickets went on sale, several die hard Springfield Cardinals fans, sheltered by tents or mummy style sleeping bags, secured their place in line to be among the first fans able to purchase general admission, outfield and infield box seats, and standing room only tickets for the 70 regular season and 2 exhibition games the Springfield Cardinals will play at Hammons Field this year.

Eddie Bruhn was first in line. His tent was equiped with a heater and a television, and was placed in front of the box office Thursday morning February 24th at 6 o'clock. Tickets did not go on sale until the following Saturday at 9am.

Springfield Cardinals Vice President and General Manager Matt Gifford was also on hand at 5am. He took time to visit with the fans and told KSMU that seeing everyone there was proof of whay the Cardinals chose Springfield to be the home of its AA franchise.
