CoxHealth Launches Veteran Honor Program for Military Patients

CoxHealth

CoxHealth has launched a program to honor the military service of patients in their hospital system.

The Veterans Honor Program is designed to recognize patients who are members of the armed forces, according to a release from CoxHealth. Both active duty and veteran patients will be identified in the hospital, and can opt in to a thank-you card, an American flag door magnet, and a special food tray liner when they’re served breakfast.

CoxHealth says it’s working on rolling out a part of the program called the Final Salute, meant for veterans who die at one of their hospitals. It includes a ceremony where hospital staff lines the hallway when the veteran is transported out of their room. The veteran will be draped in an American flag, and then saluted.
