Branson Newcomers Target of Community Event This Week
An event this week in Branson is aimed at those new to the city, including Spanish-speaking people. Mi Casa Es Su Casa (my home is your home) is a health and community resource fair. More than 30 agencies and businesses from the area will share information, provide services and help the community find out what resources are available in the Branson area.
Stephen Jeanetta, with the University of Missouri's Cambio Center, said newcomers and even long-term residents don't always know how to access the basic and vital services they need. The event Wednesday night (4/22) from 5 to 8 at Branson High School will include health, dental and vision screenings and representatives from public utilities, local government, legal services, banking, real estate and other areas. There will also be free food, activities and entertainment for kids. Translators will be available for those who don't speak English.
The project is one outcome of a research project in Branson over the last four years looking at the integration of Spanish-speaking immigrants into the broader community.
