Missouri State President Dr. Michael Nietzel has been named President of the Council on Public Higher Education. KSMU's Michele Skalicky has more.

Missouri State University President Dr. Michael Nietzel has been named president of the Council on Public Higher Education or COPHE. The statewide organization is composed of the presidents and chancellors of the 4-year public higher education institutions in the state.

Nietzel's term as president will last for 2 years. He talks about his goals as president of the Council on Public Higher Education.

Nietzel succeeds Dr. Barbara Dixon, president of Truman State University, who served as COPHE president for the last 2 years.

Michele Skalicky has worked at KSMU since the station occupied the old white house at National and Grand. She enjoys working on both the announcing side and in news and has been the recipient of statewide and national awards for news reporting. She likes to tell stories that make a difference. Michele enjoys outdoor activities, including hiking, camping and leisurely kayaking.
