Increased Crashes Lead to Traffic Light Changes

You might have to wait just a bit longer at some Springfield traffic lights.  Lights will be altered at 13 Springfield intersections overnight.  The City of Springfield’s Public Works Department says that’s due to an increased number of overnight accidents at those locations, which had lights blinking red at the time of the crashes.  The lights will now go into full operation 24-hours a day.

These intersections are impacted by the change:

  • Division Street and Sherman Avenue
  • Division Street and Benton Avenue
  • National Avenue and East Trafficway
  • National Avenue and St. Louis Street
  • National Avenue and Walnut Street
  • National Avenue and Elm Street
  • National Avenue and Cherry Street
  • National Avenue and Bear Boulevard
  • National Avenue and the MSU Pedestrian Crossing
  • National Avenue and Sunset Street
  • Kimbrough Avenue and Grand Street
  • Jefferson Avenue and Grand Street
  • Kansas Avenue and Walnut Lawn Street
