Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park will host the annual Halloween Happenings event at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite movie character, supernatural creature or in some other extravagant costume.

The night will include host games, interpretive tables, costume judging and more. There will be an evening program around a campfire at 7:30 p.m. about Missouri’s most disgusting and vile creatures. The event will be held in front of the Black River Center.

Registration starts at 3:30 p.m. Participants should bring a flashlight for this exciting night.

• 3:30 p.m. – registration for hayrides and costume judging
• 4-6 p.m. – interpretive tables, games, hayrides and more
• 6 p.m. – costume judging
• 7:30 p.m. – evening campfire program
