Guitars for Veterans Therapy Group

Guitars for Veterans Therapy Group

Moral Injury Institute, Springfield VA Vet Center, SMAI Springfield, Wellness for Warriors, and The Center for Music Therapy and Wellness are partnering to put guitars in the hands of Veterans with PTSD and Moral Injury.

ALL GROUP PARTICIPANTS MUST BE MILITARY VETERANS. The group consists of players with a range of skill levels from first-time players to songwriters to experienced finger-pickers and performers. Can't make it to the clinic? A weekly Zoom link is also available if you cannot be at the clinic from 3:15-4:15 each Wednesday.

The primary focus of the group is to learn to play the guitar, but so much more than that occurs. Within each music therapy session is an opportunity to form community, find support from those with shared experience, and learn about coping skills you did not know you had.

The group is led by Morgan L. Robertson, MT-BC and Tommy Goode, with the Moral Injury Institute. This group is available at no cost to the participants and MII works to provide each member with a donated guitar to start, or continue, their musical journey. Like all other community opportunities at the CMTW clinic, NO previous music experience is required.
