CVB Works to Attract Tourism to Springfield

Springfield CVB

Leslie Carrier talks with Tracy Kimberlin, President/CEO of the Springfield Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (CVB), about why it’s important for a community to have a CVB.

Kimberlin discusses the CVB's funding sources and how the organization works with legislators and lobbyists on tourism related issues.  There are specific strategic objectives for the CVB, particularly in the area of economic development.  Kimberlin discusses how they are instrumental in bringing sports tournaments and conventions to the city, which increases the sales tax revenue to benefit all the residents.  In addition, the CVB works with several local and regional partners to increase tourism to the whole area.  The CVB plays an integral role, says Kimberlin, in developing these regional collaborations which benefit all tourist attractions.
