Birthplace of Route 66 Festival Coming up this Weekend

City of Springfield

The City of Springfield is getting ready for the Route 66 Festival.  It starts Friday and runs through Sunday (8/12-8/14) throughout downtown.

The event will feature classic car and motorcycle shows, concerts, parades, an ice cream social, drive-in movie, a poker run and a 6.6 mile run/walk.  There will also be Route 66 authors, artists, collectors and associations displaying and selling their wares.

The Route 66 Festival started in 2010 as a small car show hosted by the West Central Neighborhood Alliance.

In 2014, 4000 people attended the festival—last year, there were 23,000.

Registration for the run/walk is underway.  Find more informationhere.
