Weekend Outlook June 13-15, 2014

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some ideas.

• The Great American Trailer Park Musical opens tonight (6/13) and runs through June 29that the Landers Theatre.  For tickets, springfieldlittletheatre.org.
• The exhibit “Engineering:  Build, Design, Explore” is at the Discovery Center of Springfield through August 17th.  Special activities are planned on Fridays to coincide with the exhibit.  Pop Fly is scheduled for 10 to 3 today (6/13).  The Discovery Center is open Monday through Thursday 9 to 5, Friday and Saturday 9 to 6 and Sunday from 1 to 5.  For details, discoverycenter.org.
• The group “Paranormal Guru” will talk about paranormal activity and show videos of some of their findings tonight (6/13) at 6 at the West Plains Public Library.  The program is free and open to the public.
• A dance is held Friday nights at 7 at the West Plains Senior Center. Admission is $5, and all ages are welcome.
• Acoustic Jam on the Square is held Friday nights on the Square in West Plains. Take instruments and lawn chairs.

• See the movie, “Up,” rated PG, this afternoon (6/13) at 3:30 at the Fair Grove Branch Library.

• The 13thannual Summer SnowFest will be held tomorrow (6/14) from noon to 4 at Jordan Valley Park.  Kids of all ages are invited to climb, slide and build snowmen in a mountain of snow made from ice shavings from Mediacom Ice Park.  Admission is free.  For details, click here.
• Bark in the Park is set for tomorrow (6/14) at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park.  The event kicks off with a walk around Lake Drummond at 9.  Events include a canine CPR demonstration at 10 and a dog talent show at 11.  The fee is $10 per dog.  To learn more, click here.
• Great Circle’s 3rdannual Ken Coleman Memorial 5K will be held tomorrow (6/14) at 8 at the Boys & Girls Town campus, 1212 W. Lombard.  A pancake breakfast will follow the race.  To register, click here.
• The 6thannual Dash to the Splash 5K Run/Walk will be held tomorrow (6/14) at White Water in Branson.  Proceeds will benefit The Caring People, which helps single moms in the U.S. and El Salvador.  To register, dashtothesplash.com.
• The Arts in the Park Concert Series at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield continues tomorrow night (6/14) at 7 outside the Visitor Center with the 135thArmy Band.  The concert will feature the Army band’s smaller group, Show Me Country.  Take blankets and lawn chairs.  Admission is free.
