Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are some ideas.

  • The Great American Trailer Park Musical opens tonight (6/13) and runs through June 29that the Landers Theatre.  For tickets, springfieldlittletheatre.org.
  • The exhibit “Engineering:  Build, Design, Explore” is at the Discovery Center of Springfield through August 17th.  Special activities are planned on Fridays to coincide with the exhibit.  Pop Fly is scheduled for 10 to 3 today (6/13).  The Discovery Center is open Monday through Thursday 9 to 5, Friday and Saturday 9 to 6 and Sunday from 1 to 5.  For details, discoverycenter.org.
  • The group “Paranormal Guru” will talk about paranormal activity and show videos of some of their findings tonight (6/13) at 6 at the West Plains Public Library.  The program is free and open to the public.
  • A dance is held Friday nights at 7 at the West Plains Senior Center. Admission is $5, and all ages are welcome.
  • Acoustic Jam on the Square is held Friday nights on the Square in West Plains. Take instruments and lawn chairs.
  • Kids in preschool through fifth grade will learn about engineering at the Railroad Historical Museum at Grant Beach Park today (6/13) from 10 to noon.  And the Springfield-Greene County Library will provide train stories and activities.  To find out more about the program, “Fizz, Boom, Read…About Engineering,” 865-1340.
  • See the movie, “Up,” rated PG, this afternoon (6/13) at 3:30 at the Fair Grove Branch Library.
  • The program, “Science Explorers:  Ice is Nice,” for kids in grades K through 5, is today (6/13) at 4 at the Library Center.  For details or to register, 882-0714 or thelibrary.org.
  • Kids in grades four through eight will learn the secret of The Longest Line, hang out, play Wii games and have snacks today (6/13) at 4 at the Library Station.  To find out more, 865-1340.
  • The 13thannual Summer SnowFest will be held tomorrow (6/14) from noon to 4 at Jordan Valley Park.  Kids of all ages are invited to climb, slide and build snowmen in a mountain of snow made from ice shavings from Mediacom Ice Park.  Admission is free.  For details, click here.
  • Bark in the Park is set for tomorrow (6/14) at Nathanael Greene-Close Memorial Park.  The event kicks off with a walk around Lake Drummond at 9.  Events include a canine CPR demonstration at 10 and a dog talent show at 11.  The fee is $10 per dog.  To learn more, click here.
  • Great Circle’s 3rdannual Ken Coleman Memorial 5K will be held tomorrow (6/14) at 8 at the Boys & Girls Town campus, 1212 W. Lombard.  A pancake breakfast will follow the race.  To register, click here.
  • The 6thannual Dash to the Splash 5K Run/Walk will be held tomorrow (6/14) at White Water in Branson.  Proceeds will benefit The Caring People, which helps single moms in the U.S. and El Salvador.  To register, dashtothesplash.com.
  • The Arts in the Park Concert Series at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield continues tomorrow night (6/14) at 7 outside the Visitor Center with the 135thArmy Band.  The concert will feature the Army band’s smaller group, Show Me Country.  Take blankets and lawn chairs.  Admission is free.
  • James River Basin Partnership presents the Riverjam and Crawdad Boil, a River Rescue Celebration, tomorrow night (6/14) from 5 to 11 on Park Central Square.  The event will feature craft beer and wine, seafood, family fun activities, merchant booths and more.  To learn more,  click here.
  • The West Plains Car Club Show and Swap Meet will be held tomorrow (6/14) at the West Plains Civic Center.  For more information, click here.
  • The program “Girl Talk:  You Matter!” will be held tomorrow (6/14) from 9 am to 12:30 pm at Asbury United Methodist Church.  The well-being conference for girls, teens, young women and moms will include a raffle, Zumba, yoga, vendors, refreshments and more.  For details, click here.
  • Republic Paw Pantry will host “Dog Daze of Summer” from 11 am to 3 pm tomorrow (6/14) at Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate office in Republic.  The entry fee is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children and includes a meal, music and games for kids and pets.  The event will be held rain or shine.  To learn more, 893-0076.

  • The Southwest Missouri Autism Network will host speaker Aaron Likens, autism author and advocate, tomorrow afternoon (6/14) from 3:30 to 5:30 at the Arc of the Ozarks, 1501 E.
